Workers Party London Branch Condemns Trump’s Gaza Plan, Urges End to U.S. Arms to Israel

The Workers Party of Britain (London Branch) strongly condemns Donald Trump’s reckless and illegal proposal to forcibly expel the people of Gaza from their land and his outrageous threat to cancel the current ceasefire if his arbitrary demands are not met. These actions amount to ethnic cleansing in violation of international law and threaten to escalate an already dire humanitarian catastrophe.

Trump’s suggestion that Gaza’s entire population—over two million people—should be permanently displaced and its land handed over for redevelopment is not just immoral but also illegal under international law. The Fourth Geneva Convention (Article 49) explicitly prohibits “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons,” making such proposals a clear war crime. Additionally, the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (Article 7) defines forced population transfer as a crime against humanity.

Furthermore, Trump’s threat to cancel the ceasefire—which has been crucial in facilitating humanitarian aid and securing the release of hostages—demonstrates a complete disregard for international diplomacy. His reckless intervention risks plunging the region back into further bloodshed, ignoring the thousands of innocent Palestinian civilians already killed in the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza.

The United States, as the most powerful global actor, has a duty to act as an impartial mediator in the conflict, not as a partisan backer of Israel’s war machine. The Biden administration, like its predecessors, has abandoned any pretense of neutrality by providing unwavering political, financial, and military support to Israel. This one-sided approach has emboldened Israeli war crimes and prolonged the suffering of the Palestinian people.

Instead of pressuring Israel to respect international law and engage in genuine peace negotiations, the U.S. government has supplied billions of dollars in military aid, effectively funding the destruction of Gaza. Since the start of Israel’s latest assault, American-made bombs, fighter jets, and artillery shells have been used in indiscriminate attacks on homes, hospitals, and refugee camps—killing over 27,000 Palestinians, the majority of whom are women and children.

The Workers Party of Britain demands that the U.S. immediately halt all military aid to Israel, as these arms are being used to commit genocide in Gaza. Providing weapons to a state engaged in ethnic cleansing and mass civilian killings makes the U.S. complicit in war crimes. We call upon the international community to hold the U.S. and Israel accountable for their violations of human rights and international law.

The Workers Party stands firmly against Trump’s war-mongering and illegal agenda. We call on the UK government and international community to reject Trump’s proposals outright, demand an end to the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and push for a permanent ceasefire.

Palestine belongs to its people. There can be no lasting peace without justice. That means an end to the illegal Israeli occupation, apartheid policies, and U.S.-backed military aggression.
